Bleeding gums? Listen up!

Bleeding gums? Listen up!

At Artistic Touch Dentistry, we work hard to encourage our patients to see their dentist regularly for bi-annual prophylaxis. One of the common concerns of our patients who come to us after missing regular checkups is sore and bleeding gums.

Gums could bleed lightly after regular flossing, but heavy bleeding is a sign of a larger dental issue. If bleeding frequently occurs when you brush your teeth or floss, this could be a sign of gingivitis, or inflammation of the gumline. Dr. Maryam Brazdo can assess the condition of your teeth and gums to determine the cause of bleeding and to develop a treatment plan that will restore your dental health.

To prevent sore and bleeding gums, be sure to brush twice daily and floss regularly. Then schedule your biannual prophylaxis appointments to reduce the presence of plaque biofilm. If you’ve got sore or bleeding gums, contact our office today and we’ll get you on the right track for a fully-recovered, healthy mouth and a beautiful smile!
