Dental Sealants Protect Hard To Reach Places

We are available to discuss the benefits of dental sealants, so you can protect the vulnerable areas of your teeth. Dental sealants are a simple procedure in which a tooth-colored acrylic “coating” is painted onto the surface of the tooth. This effectively “seals” the deep grooves, acting as a barrier and protecting enamel from plaque and acids.

Brushing and flossing twice a day helps remove food particles and plaque from the smooth surfaces of your teeth, but it’s often difficult to reach into the grooves of your teeth to extract food and plaque. Dental sealants protect these areas and “seal out” plaque and food. Sealants protect the depressions and grooves of your teeth from food particles and plaque that brushing and flossing can’t reach. They will also hold up well under the force of normal chewing and may last several years before a reapplication is needed.

In addition to dental sealants, you can maintain good oral hygiene by:

  • Brushing your teeth twice a day with an ADA-accepted fluoride toothpaste
  • Flossing twice a day
  • Eating a balanced diet and limiting snacks
  • Visiting our office regularly!
