Halloween: Oral Hygiene Teaching Tool!

Halloween: Oral Hygiene Teaching Tool!

At Artistic Touch Dentistry, we know that holidays are special time of celebration–particularly for kids! But while all that candy is hanging out in the house, keep good oral hygiene front and center. Every piece of candy followed up with tooth-brushing is an opportunity to teach excellent oral hygiene.

The American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush every two to three months or when the bristles are frayed. Replacing the brush on schedule maximizes cleaning, minimizes bacteria, and helps you maintain excellent oral care. For children, choosing a new toothbrush is an excellent way to reinforce oral care habits. They can pick a new one in their favorite color and with their favorite character. And why not time new toothbrush selection to points in the year when oral hygiene is especially poignant?

Use the candy deluge of this Halloween season to talk to your child about oral health and follow up by making a special trip to choose a new toothbrush. Dr. Maryam Brazdo is passionate about oral care for total body health, especially when it comes to kids!
