We all know what to do in case of certain emergences, like if you accidentally catch on fire you stop, drop, and roll and if someone breaks into the house, you dial 911—but Artistic Touch Dentist wants you to know what to do in case of a dental emergency.
The experts at Crest explain that, “unlike a chipped or cracked tooth, some dental hygiene injuries are not obvious. Trauma to the mouth can cause damage that may not be seen, but could result in loss of one or more teeth.” So call our office and make an appointment as soon as possible after you have encountered any injury to the teeth or to the mouth.
However, Crest wants you to know what you should do if a tooth is knocked out during an accident:
- Do not scrub or clean the tooth.
- Place the tooth in a small container of milk, saline solution if available, or a special tooth-preserving solution available at your pharmacy.
- See your dental professional as soon as possible, preferably within 30 minutes. Don’t forget to take the tooth with you.
By seeing our emergency dentists at Artistic Touch Dentistry, a permanent tooth may be re-implanted into the tooth socket and remain normal and healthy, so if this ever happens give us a call at 321.724.1400.
