There’s no doubt that the Affordable Care Act has left consumers confused, and dental coverage related to the Affordable Care Act is no exception. Many people have wondered if dental insurance is mandatory, and if it is covered through insurance purchased through the Exchanges and the Affordable Care Act. Some insurance plans offer coverage that includes dental insurance, but there are also plans allowing you to purchase the dental coverage separately. Children under 18 are required to have dental coverage under the new law, but parents will not be penalized if they do not buy the coverage, unlike general health care plans.
