Snacking Healthily – For Your Teeth!
We’ve all heard opinions for snacking healthy, but snacking doesn’t just impact your waistline–it impacts your teeth! Dr. Maryam Brazdo wants patients to be informed about all the factors that influence dental health.
It’s no secret that some foods are better for your teeth than others. Usually where people run into problems though is not during meals, but when they are snacking. Sugary, starchy foods are the obvious culprit. These foods stick to your teeth long after you have finished eating them, affecting tooth enamel. Realistically, we will all snack. So when you do, rinse your mouth using plain water to try and release some of the sticky stuff left behind. Also consider choosing foods to snack on that are good for your teeth including crunchy fruits and vegetables, nuts, and cheese.
Of course we also recommend brushing twice daily and flossing once a day. Another important tool in dental health is your biannual teeth cleaning. Call Artistic Touch Dentistry today to book your appointment!
